The ensemble made history as the Grand Prize winner of the 2026 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition—the first wind quintet to earn the honor in nearly 30 years—and also received First Prize at the Frances Walton Chamber Music Competition. Formed at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, ZaRiah’s members have performed internationally and with some of the world’s leading orchestras and ensembles. The URSC offers a 12-module, yearlong research development experience that moves students from research interests to measurable scholarly and professional outcomes. In each session, students will participate in a 40-minute, faculty-led didactic session, followed by two hours of guided, hands-on research support from experienced student research assistants. The first session will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 5:30 p.m. in Buller Hall, Room 207.
